48 Hours in Singapore

I only had short time to explore Singapore without itinerary. So just do everything randomly!

3 words to describe this city: MODERN, DISCIPLINE and EXPENSIVE!

Don’t start your traveling schedule from Singapore. I bet you! You cannot deny shopping temptation in this city. That was happened to me in my short trip in Singapore 2 weeks ago..haha! This city was offered me so many choices for shopping, everywhere you arrived in MRT station, it will connect to shopping centre.

THINGS MUST TO DO AND SEE

Singapore is big modern city with many skyscrapers. Lots places to shop, especially in Orchard Road and of course the iconic Merlion Park and Marina Bay Sand. Sentosa Island also the place must be put on your list.

FOOD AND DRINK

I was not tried many food there. Just tried chinese food in Geylang area, Curry in Little India and junk foods like KFC and Subway. Singapore was very hot so I didn’t felt hungry but thirsty all the time. I got coffee only SGD 5 and it was tasted so nice! (for me) tried coffee is more interesting than food.😀

HOW TO GET THERE

Singapore is regular stopover city for many international airlines. Many low budget flights served to Singapore, Air Asia, Tiger Mandala, Jetstar and so on. I used Tiger Mandala (direct flight from Jakarta) paid only USD 25 or IDR 279,200.

You will never get lost in this city. MRT and BRT will help you going to anywhere you wanted. Buy tourist card for 3 days Pass, the price about SGD 30 (with deposit SGD10). You can get the deposit refunded when you return the card to ticket office.

WHERE TO STAY

Singapore has many variant of hotel, hostel and guesthouses in all areas. You can book them by booking websites. I stayed in Fragnance Hotel-Sapphire; the hotel is located in Geylang (known as Red District in Singapore). The location is surrounding by Chinese restaurants and nearest to Kallang Station. Don’t expect too much with this hotel. The price is reasonable cheap and the facilities are acceptable. It’s quite good for only short staying. I paid USD 106.52 for 2 nights.

BUDGET

The currency in Singapore is the Singapore Dollar. 1 SGD = IDR 9200. Singapore is relatively expensive for Indonesian. MRT 3 days pass about SGD 30 (with SGD 10 as deposit), meals (street food and junk food..:P) about SGD 2-15, beer is about SGD 10-14 in happy hours, mineral water about SGD 1.8-3, admission Fee Sentosa Island SGD 3, Universal Studio USD 68 (promo Master card) and Singapore Zoo about SGD 20 (Special price) and Local Simcard SGD 20.

IN MY OPINION

Singapore is unadventurous place and a boring tasteless. The people always busy with their gadget . Enjoy the seriousness of Singaporean!  :)

“I don’t much like Singapore. It’s very big, very modern and very urbanised. As a rule, I prefer older places where you get a sense of the history.” – Phillipa Gregory
